Teacher Scholarship

*Student and parents (if a dependent) must be Maryland residents
*Current high school seniors
*Full-time (12+ credits/semester) or part-time (6-11 credits/semester), degree-seeking undergraduate students
*Full-time (9+ credits/semester) or part-time (6-8 credits/semester), degree-seeking graduate student (includes current teachers working on graduate degrees)
*Enrolled in eligible, accredited Maryland college or university

*Complete application (2009-2010 application now available)
*Provide academic transcripts
*If applying to be considered by need, complete FAFSA
*Deadline: July 1, 2009

*$4,000/year for full-time students at a four-year college or university
*$2,000/year for part-time students at a four-year college or university
*$2,000/year for full-time students at a two-year community college
*$1,000/year for part-time students at a two-year community college

*You must promise to begin your service obligation in the field for which you received the award within one year of completing your degree
*The service obligation runs at the rate of one year of service for every year you received the award if you work full-time, or two years of service for every year you received the award if you work part-time.
*Teaching award recipients must become certified teachers in Maryland in the certification area in which they applied and were awarded
*Teaching award recipients may fulfill their service obligation in a Catholic elementary or high school in Maryland, or another public or private elementary or secondary school in Maryland

*For Grades 7 - 12: Chemistry, Chinese, computer science, earth/space science, German, Italian, Japanese, Latin, math, physical science, physics, Spanish
*Technology education
*English for Speakers of Other Languages (all grades)
*Special education (all grades)
